Taneyri DeJesus

Mother. Wife. Author. Legacy Keeper.

Freeing my creativity brought my inner world into my outer reality.

The leopard slug carries a spiritual meaning of profound transformation, emotional cleansing and balanced strength representing the ability to move through life’s complexities slowly and resiliently.

It’s hard for me to talk about myself. Writing bios and listing accomplishments never felt true to who I am. For years, the quiet strength I carried kept my resilience grounded and kept me clear of ego and extremely humble.

I think the best way to introduce myself is to explain the very meaning of my name, the most honest reflection of me.

My name is Taneyri (Tah-nay-di or 10/80) which is a spin of the name,

Tanairí (tah-NYE-ree) which is a name of Taíno origin.

Which means: "the one who brings life” or “a place of water”

The name carries a strong sense of connection to nature and evokes feelings of peace and serenity. Tanairi is a significant name in Taíno culture, representing a connection to nature, beauty, and the island's heritage. It is often chosen to honor the ancestors and celebrate the rich history and traditions of the Taíno people.

I was 33 years old when I learned the true meaning of my name. It was such an unreal moment because it allowed all the missing pieces of my identity fall right into place.

I have never fully understood my resilience until I learned the true meaning of my name. I have always felt the presence and protection my entire life.

A few years ago It would have sounded so crazy for me to say:

Their whispers guided me and gave me strength

Now I fully understand and know I am not crazy.

I was honored with a powerful name and I truly believe that my life’s mission is to honor my legacy.

It was predestined.

As a writer I am vulnerable, and being vulnerable was never the hard part;

The hard part was accepting that I am an Author.

And as a Legacy Keeper I will continue to let my pen paint.

I will continue to honor my ancestors and reflect the pride of my heritage.

I thank you for your support, and for simply being here reading these words.

I hope within the pages of my books you are able to find pieces,

fragments and reflections of your story.

If my name is a claim, it is also a promise: to continue learning how

to endure without hardening,

to build resilience without the loss of tenderness,

to protect those entrusted to me without consuming them.

Hi, I am Taneyri, nice to meet you!
